Chelsea set for transfer meeting to FINALLY sign long-standing target

The agent of Gregor Kobel is slated to be in London next week to hold talks with Chelsea, who are once again interested in the goalkeeper, according to a report.
The Switzerland international is the subject of rampant speculation every transfer window. Kobel is usually one of the Bundesliga's most reliable goalkeepers, and this makes him an interesting commodity.

The 27-year-old has made no secret of the fact that he is frustrated with Dortmund's disappointing season, and some have suggested that this could finally be the year that the shot-stopper seeks a new challenge.
Should he indeed decide to jump ship, he will have no shortage of suitors. Chelsea are long-standing admirers, having tried to sign him in 2023. Kobel held talks with the Blues after a Champions League away game at Stamford Bridge, but no move materialised.
Two years on from that meeting, Chelsea still don't have a reliable solution in the goalkeeper department, and this has put Kobel's name back on the agenda.

Chelsea still interested in Kobel amid Petrovic uncertainty
FussballTransfers and Footmercato now report that Kobel's agent is set for a new meeting with Chelsea next week to discuss a potential summer move.
The player's representatives are flying out to London, but they will not only hold talks with the Blues. It is claimed that Newcastle, too, are interested in the Swiss, although other reports suggest that Burnley star James Trafford is their priority.

As for Chelsea, it had been reported that they would not dip into the goalkeeper market this summer as they have Djordje Petrovic returning from his loan at Strasbourg, but the Serbian's future may not lie at Stamford Bridge after all.
Kicker reports that Bayer Leverkusen are keen on the 25-year-old, which could potentially convince Chelsea to make a concrete move for Kobel. He wouldn't come cheap, though, as Dortmund are said to be holding out for €70 million.
