Chelsea to DOUBLE Jamie Gittens' wage as transfer fee revealed

A potential transfer of Jamie Gittens to Chelsea is becoming increasingly concrete, with the Blues pushing hard for the Borussia Dortmund winger, according to German media.
The England youth international is ready to leave Dortmund in the summer window after falling out of favour under new coach Niko Kovac. Gittens was enjoying the best season of his career prior to Nuri Sahin's sacking, but he has struggled to recapture that form since the coaching reshuffle.

Dortmund, who are at serious risk of missing out on Champions League qualification, won't stand in the winger's way, and Sky Germany reports that there was recently a 'summit' between the club and the representatives of the player.
The 20-year-old's future was discussed, and it was agreed that the Bundesliga side will engage with offers in the region of €50 million to €60m this summer, a far cry from his previous €100m price tag.
Gittens has been pretty much anonymous so far in this calendar year, so Dortmund accept that they will not be in a position to demand as much as initially planned when he was still playing well.

Chelsea ready to double Gittens' wage
The German outlet goes on to state that Chelsea remain the club most persistently pushing for Gittens behind the scenes. The Blues are 'convinced' that an English player with Gittens' talent and potential ought to play in the Premier League.
In order to secure buy-in from the youngster, Chelsea are said to be ready to at the very least double his current annual salary of €3m. That said, the West London club have yet to make a formal offer for the tricky attacker.

Gittens is surely not the only option under consideration at Stamford Bridge, and his form slump could yet evoke some doubts over his readiness to play in the Premier League.
The 20-year-old is still incredibly raw and has yet to consistently perform at a good Bundesliga level, let alone at a good Premier League level. Even at a 'reduced' price of €50m, Gittens would be a risky signing.
