It is claimed that Nkunku has “reached the point of no return” under Enzo Maresca at Chelsea, despite being the second-leading scorer in all competitions with 12 goals.

Despite Cole Palmer’s poor form showing no sign of relenting as the Blues edged Everton 1-0 on Saturday, there appears to be no hint of Maresca giving the Frenchman an opportunity.

So the door is open for Nkunku to depart, and Arsenal, who are in need of a versatile attacking midfielder, would appear to be a strong option when it comes to a transfer.

Why Nkunku is a perfect fit for Arsenal

Nkunku is a player who is expected to slot in at Arsenal under Mikel Arteta almost perfectly by data analytics experts SciSports. Based on the firm’s Career Advice tool, the Gunners get a Club Fit score of 75 based around a variety of factors, including potential, game time, playing style and formation.

Arsenal tick a lot of boxes for Nkunku. In terms of being able to get the best out of the former PSG youth, they score five stars, while their playing style gets the same mark and the Gunners also get four for formation.

The one drawback is playing time. SciSports believes that he only gets one star in this regard, but while he may not move as a starting player, he would surely get plenty of opportunities in rotation and, therefore, chances to muscle ahead of others.

Chelsea have recently sold Kai Havertz to Arsenal and seen the German impress at the Emirates. Could the same now happen with Nkunku? It seems that there is a genuine chance.
