Liverpool are the clear favourites to sign Bournemouth defender Milos Kerkez this summer, according to a report.

Like vultures, the Premier League's most affluent clubs are circling over the Vitality Stadium in Bournemouth. Despite a recent slump, the Cherries have, on the whole, enjoyed a brilliant season.

This has put the spotlight on Andoni Iraola's players - and indeed on the coach, too - and Bournemouth's youngsters in particular are sought-after commodities.

Star defenders Dean Huijsen and Milos Kerkez are two of the club's most valuable assets, and the Premier League's big hitters have been courting the pair in recent months.

With the season slowly but surely drawing to a close, there is a clear trend emerging for both players. Earlier on Wednesday, it was revealed that Chelsea are ahead of Liverpool in the race for centre-back Huijsen.

Liverpool home in on Kerkez

Not to be outdone, the Reds, for their part, are the firm favourites to secure the signature of Kerkez, according to Ben Jacobs. Chelsea, and indeed most big Premier League clubs, held an interest in the Hungary international, but it is now very likely that he will end up at Anfield.

Jacobs reports that none of Liverpool's potential rivals are expected to engage in fresh talks, with the journalist also confirming FootballTransfers' reporting that Man City, despite their admiration for Kerkez, will not make a move.

Liverpool view the 21-year-old as the ideal long-term successor to Andy Robertson and want to make him Arne Slot's first big statement signing. Bournemouth, it is claimed, are holding out for a fee in excess of €47 million.

The Cherries won't stand in Kerkez's way if their valuation of the player is met, despite the fact that they are keen to keep their squad together this summer. Liverpool sporting director Richard Hughes signed the Hungarian for Bournemouth in 2023.
