Manchester United have seen winger Antony shine during his loan stint at Real Betis, heightening hopes around Old Trafford that they might be able to sell the Brazil international in the summer.

The 25-year-old was shunted out on loan to Betis in January and has found a new lease of life in LaLiga.

Although there is no purchase option in the loan move, Man Utd are hopeful of being able to strike a bargain worth around €45m for Antony in the summer.

Real Betis, meanwhile, have gone public on their desire to retain the attacker, with Isco even joking that they should start a crowdfunding campaign to secure a loan. While those comments were tongue-in-cheek, they also showed that the Seville-based side will struggle to afford a permanent deal.

Real Betis aiming to keep Antony

According to The Telegraph, the Spaniards are, therefore, planning on negotiating a fresh loan deal for the duration of the 2025/26 season. Indeed, it is even suggested that Betis’ plan from the outset had been an 18-month loan but they settled on a six-month deal purely because it was easier to negotiate in the notoriously difficult January transfer window.

Man Utd are unlikely to field a permanent bid for Antony from Betis unless the Spanish side qualify for the Champions League – which is something not entirely out of the question.

Los Beticos are fifth in LaLiga, they find themselves trailing Athletic Club in fourth by six points with just five games left to play. Their current position could be sufficient to take a spot in the competition give that Spain is on course to be handed a bonus Champions League place.
