Fabrizio Romano announces TWO Man Utd transfers

Tom Heaton and Jonny Evans will depart Manchester United this summer, Fabrizio Romano has confirmed.
The two veteran players are on expiring player contracts and will not have their terms renewed by Man Utd. Both had their deals extended by a further season last year, but Romano has now announced that they will leave the club this summer.

Heaton and Evans both came through the Man Utd academy but initially left the club to make a name for themselves elsewhere. Heaton returned to Old Trafford in 2021, joining from Aston Villa on a free transfer after spells at Cardiff, Bristol City and most famously Burnley, where he became an England international.
The 39-year-old linked up with the Red Devils to act as a backup goalkeeper, which meant that he rarely featured. Indeed, his last senior appearance was in the Carabao Cup two seasons ago. All told, Heaton has made just three first-team appearances for Man Utd across six seasons and two spells.

Man Utd axe Evans too
Jonny Evans, meanwhile, rejoined Man Utd in the summer of 2023 in a surprise deal. When Erik ten Hag brought him back to the club in pre-season, the 37-year-old was expected to simply keep himself fit and act as a mentor to younger players.
However, due to Man Utd's transfer failings and an injury crisis, Evans actually played a key role in their season, making a whopping 30 appearances and often looking like the club's most capable defender.

It has been a different story this term. Plagued by injuries, the Northern Ireland international has only played a handful of games and is unlikely to see much playing time before the end of the campaign.
Prior to his return to Man Utd, Evans featured for West Brom and Leicester City. It remains to be seen if he or Heaton will be retained in a coaching capacity or if they will really leave the club for good and potentially even continue their playing careers.
