Man Utd 'sacrifice' €80m star to sign Matheus Cunha

Manchester United have reportedly submitted a contract offer to Matheus Cunha and they are set to “sacrifice” Rasmus Hojlund in order to sign the Wolverhampton Wanderers forward.
The Red Devils have intensified their pursuit of Cunha over the past week and they are now expected to trigger the €73 million release clause included in his current contract at Wolves.

The Brazil international is set to become Man Utd’s first confirmed signing of the 2025 summer transfer window, but the aforementioned Hojlund is now extremely likely to depart as Ruben Amorim’s side look to fund a move for Cunha.
That is according to TEAMtalk, who claim that Man Utd have “definitively” added Hojlund to the transfer list as they aim to cut their losses on the Denmark striker.
Hojlund arrived at Old Trafford for €77.8m from Atalanta in 2023, but he has only scored 24 goals in 88 appearances for Man Utd, and the club are eager to offload him this summer amid their pursuit of Cunha.

Ruben Amorim on Matheus Cunha
Ahead of Man Utd’s Premier League clash against Bournemouth on Sunday, Amorim was asked to comment on his side’s pursuit of Cunha amid reports that an agreement has been reached with the Brazil international.
“I could say this is a conversation for the end of the season, but I have an idea that is clear because we need to do things early,” Amorim told reporters.

“I will not say anything about Matheus because if I say one time, I will have to comment on every situation. I am focused on this season, and even the next few games could change our plan for next season.
“It’s Manchester United,” Amorim added. “What I feel is there are a lot of players that want to play for our club. If you look at our club at the moment with all the problems, changing coach, it looks a little bit of a problem.
“But we have a clear idea, and that’s the easiest part to explain for a player. It’s Manchester United and every player wants to play for Manchester United.”
Cunha has scored 17 goals and provided six assists in 32 appearances for Wolves so far this season, and his Estimated Transfer Value (ETV) currently stands at €62.6m.
