Recently, FootballTransfers revealed that the 40-year-old has even demanded a new centre-back be signed due to concerns over Lisandro Martinez's suitability to his back-three system.
We reported that Amorim remains a fan of his former Sporting CP defender Goncalo Inacio, but he is far from the only name under consideration. Links with Everton star Jarrad Branthwaite have also flared up again in recent weeks.
Due to Man Utd's sporting and financial situation, there is no guarantee that they will be able to splash the cash on a defender this summer, but they are certainly scouring the market for potential opportunities.

Man Utd identify Comuzzo
According to Gazzetta dello Sport, Fiorentina star Pietro Comuzzo is the latest name to appear on the Red Devils' radar ahead of the summer. The 20-year-old is enjoying a breakout season, and this isn't going unnoticed.
A string of European top clubs are linked with the young centre-back, with Italy's heavyweights in particular keen on him. Napoli already attempted a swoop in January, but the move was blocked by Fiorentina.

The Florence outfit have reportedly slapped a €40 million price tag on the head of Comuzzo, who made Italy's senior squad for the November and March international breaks, although he has yet to make his debut for the Azzurri.
It is stated that Man Utd are not the only Premier League side to have taken an interest in the youngster, with Nottingham Forest and Newcastle United also said to be keeping tabs on his development in Tuscany.
