Man Utd rival Man City for Pep Guardiola's top target

Manchester United are interested in Manchester City's top goalkeeper target Diogo Costa, according to Portuguese media.
The Porto shot-stopper has established himself as one of Europe's best in his position in recent seasons and is continually linked with a departure from his boyhood club.

FootballTransfers exclusively revealed in January that Costa has emerged as one of the priority targets for Man City, who are expected to part ways with Ederson this summer.
The Brazilian, who is making history with his assists this season, was close to leaving the reigning Premier League champions last summer and will field interest once more in the upcoming window.
We understand that Stefan Ortega could also depart the Etihad, which has forced Man City to scour the goalkeeper market with some urgency and, in addition to Costa, they have made contact with Benfica star Anatoliy Trubin as well.
Man Utd want Costa
However, Man City are far from the only club interested in adding an elite goalkeeper this summer, and Man Utd have also taken a keen interest in Costa, according to Correio da Manha.
Andre Onana is facing an uncertain future at Old Trafford after his repeated mistakes this season. Ideally, cash-strapped Man Utd would not dip into the goalkeeper market, but their hand may be forced if Onana keeps failing to impress.

The Red Devils are considering a host of options, including Costa, who would be on the pricier end of the spectrum as he boasts a €75 million release clause.
This makes a move to Man Utd unlikely as things stand, but the Portuguese outlet claims that their interest in the 25-year-old is 'firm.' So much so, in fact, that a scout from the club watched Costa in action against Famalicao last Friday.
Porto president Andre Villas-Boas is looking to fetch a fee close to Costa's release clause and will not sell the shot-stopper prior to the Club World Cup.
