Viktor Gyokeres issues transfer message amid Arsenal interest

Sporting CP forward Viktor Gyokeres has downplayed rumours that he will join Arsenal this summer, despite significant interest from Mikel Arteta’s side.
The Sweden international has emerged as a key transfer target for the Gunners following the appointment of Andrea Berta as their new sporting director and Arsenal are expected to intensify their pursuit of the 26-year-old over the next few weeks.

Gyokeres has scored 90 goals in 96 appearances for Sporting, following his arrival from Coventry City in 2023, and he is set to return to England during the 2025 summer transfer window amid interest from Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester United.
However, the former are currently his most likely destination as Arteta pushes to bring Gyokeres to the Emirates Stadium amid his pursuit of a prolific new centre forward.
The likes of Alexander Isak, Benjamin Sesko and Ollie Watkins are also on Arsenal’s radar, although they are currently prioritising a move for Gyokeres - who could be available for a fee of roughly €80 million this summer.

What has Viktor Gyokeres said?
Following a hat-trick against Moreirense on Friday night, Gyokeres told reporters: “No one can predict what will happen, we enjoy the moment.”
When asked about reports of a gentleman’s agreement that Sporting will allow him to depart for a fee of €80m this summer, the Sweden international added: “I can’t say anything about that.”
His final reply was equally coy as he simply stated: “I like Lisbon,” after being questioned on whether he is a fan of London amid Arsenal’s interest.
Gyokeres has three years remaining on his current contract at Sporting, while his Estimated Transfer Value (ETV) stands at a career high of €75m amid his immense form for the Portuguese giants.
He is expected to usurp Gabriel Jesus and Kai Havertz as Arsenal’s starting striker next season if the Gunners are able to finalise a deal with Sporting this summer.
