Alphonso Davies grudge kills Man Utd transfer
Man Utd's chances of signing Alphonso Davies in 2025 were always going to be very difficult after they snubbed him in the past.
Man Utd went into the January transfer window needing to sign a left back, and Davies was initially their priority target - either on an immediate transfer or as a free transfer when his contract was due to expire in the summer.
However, United failed to persuade Davies to join them and in the end paid €30 million plus €5m in add-ons to sign Patrick Dorgu from Lecce.

The Athletic reports that United always faced a very difficult task with Davies after snubbing the player in 2017.
As a teenager, Davies had been recommended to the club by scout Jorge Alvial.
But United rejected the chance to sign Davies, a decision that the player never forgot.

The Athletic adds that Davies' wage demands also made a transfer hard to pull off so Man Utd dropped their interest and moved for Dorgu.
Despite interest from Real Madrid, also, The Athletic confirms reports elsewhere that Davies is now close to extending his contract with Bayern.
Real Madrid no longer favourites for Davies
The consensus in the media for several months had been that Davies was very likely to join Real Madrid as a free agent in the summer.
Madrid are planning to revolutionise their full back positions in 2025, and dream of having Davies at left back and Liverpool’s Trent Alexander-Arnold at right back.
The Liverpool star is also out of contract at the end of the season and increasingly likely to leave on a Bosman Transfer.
But while Alexander-Arnold is likely to arrive, Davies now looks set to stay at Bayern.
