The summer window was a crazy one for Chelsea as they were once again one of the biggest spenders.

Article continues under the video

Mauricio Pochettino joined the Blues last summer, however he lasted just 11 months in charge and left by mutual consent on 21 May after a post-season review meeting.

The Blues subsequently announced on 3 June that Enzo Maresca had been appointed as their new manager.

Although Todd Boehly has overseen a spend of more than €1.2 billion on new players since arriving at the club in 2022, there has been no success to show for it, with the Stamford Bridge outfit finishing 12th in his first campaign as owner and sixth in 2023-24.

However, Chelsea continued to target a raft of promising young players, despite the evident need for more experience in the dressing room. Other high-profile targets such as Victor Osimhen and Ivan Toney did not arrive.

The west London club signed Jadon Sancho, Pedro Neto, Joao Felix, Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, Filip Jorgensen, Omari Kellyman, Aaron Anselmino, Renato Veiga, Caleb Wiley, Marc Guiu and Tosin Adarabioyo this summer, while Estevao Willian, Mike Penders and Kendry Paez will arrive in 2025.

In addition, Chelsea sold the likes of Romelu Lukaku, Ian Maatsen, Lewis Hall and Omari Hutchinson, with Hakim Ziyech and Thiago Silva departing on free transfers.

Our Chelsea transfer live blog brings you all the latest news surrounding the Blues, including exclusives from our own reporters as well as checking out what the other big names are saying (including the likes of Fabrizio Romano and David Ornstein).

Despite the window being closed, the Stamford Bridge rumour mill continues to be in full swing.

Maresca juggles star players

Enzo Maresca has admitted that he has told star players they won't play every game.

"When we signed Jadon [Sancho] we were looking for another winger more or less like Noni [Madueke]," said the Italian boss.

"Noni’s doing that on the right side - winning one-v-ones, creating chances, scoring goals. We are looking for the same thing on our left-hand side with Jadon. We have already Misha [Mykhailo Mudryk] there, Pedro [Neto] is playing there, but it’s good to have both wingers who can give us this kind of option.

"At the end of the game I just said to the players - Christo [Nkunku], Cole [Palmer], Jadon, Joao [Felix], Noni, Misha, Pedro – they are not all going to play all the games.

"All they need to do is exactly what they did tonight: and say, 'If I play I give all my best, if I go on for 10 minutes I have to give all my best'."

Hot shot sends message to Maresca

Youngster Tyrique George scored a hat-trick on Sunday as Chelsea U21s defeated Brentford U21s in a massive 6-3 win.

The 18-year-old travelled on the pre-season tour of America with the first team and will be hoping to catch boss Enzo Maresca's eye this season.

Lukaku vs Osimhen

Napoli defender Amir Rrahmani was asked by Sky Sport Italia about the difference between playing with former Chelsea striker Romelu Lukaku and Blues transfer target Victor Osimhen in the side.

“In previous years we had Osimhen, who kept the ball less and looked more to get in behind the defence,” he said.

“With Lukaku instead we can play under pressure. He is physically strong and he helps us win the second balls and finish.”

Stars back in training

In a boost to Chelsea fans, skipper Enzo Fernandez, Romeo Lavia, Malo Gusto and Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall were back in Chelsea training, accorsing to Sky Sports News.

They all missed Saturday's 1-0 win away to Bournemouth.

Blues float up the table

Any excuse to enjoy Christopher Nkunku's iconic celebration.

Nkunku provides quality

Match-winner Christopher Nkunku has revealed what boss Enzo Maresca said before bringing him on as a substitute during the side's 1-0 win at Bournemouth.

The 26-year-old striker scored the decisive goal late in the game at the Vitality Stadium.

"He just said that we need quality in the box and we have ten minutes left so he said for me to enjoy," Nkunku said.

"It was good from Jadon [Sancho]. I felt like I had the space behind me, so I turned and I was a little bit lucky because I had three defenders there, but I scored."

Sancho and Joao Felix set tone

Jadon Sancho and Joao Felix both made positive impacts from the substitute's bench on Saturday in the side's 1-0 win at Bournemouth.

Enzo Maresca recently told reporters he had made himself clear to the club's summer arrivals on what he expects from them.

“I spoke with Sancho and Joao Felix when they joined and I told them, 'if you come here and don’t work properly, then you’re not going to play'," said the Italian boss.

"Before they arrived the message for them was clear”.

Gallagher scores for Atleti

Chelsea fans were in bits on social media last night as former Blues player Conor Gallagher put Atletico Madrid ahead against Valencia.
