Transfer News LIVE - Every rumour, every done deal: Nico Williams update, Man Utd SPEND

Now that the domestic season is over for all major European leagues, clubs can now focus on their preparations for the 2025/26 campaign, with a natural focus on recruitment.
The big spenders will be out in force again, with Real Madrid looking to back new boss Xabi Alonso, Chelsea keen to improve again after securing Champions League qualification, and Manchester United desperate to reclaim some kind of success after a disastrous season that saw them finish just three places above the relegation zone in the Premier League.
The Red Devils have signed Matheus Cunha, with Man City also flexing their financial power to sign Tijani Reijnders, Rayan Ait-Nouri, Marcus Bettinelli and Rayan Cherki.
With the Club World Cup starting in a few days, clubs had to sign players before 10th June to ensure they could play in that tournament, so we did see some big deals happen earlier than usual this year.
Some questions that will hang over the transfer window this season:
- Will Viktor Gyokeres leave Sporting CP?
- Who will sign Victor Osimhen?
- How much can Barcelona spend?
- Will top players want to join Man Utd?
- Will Arsenal sign a world-class striker?

Laporta responds to Athletic Club's Williams worries
This week Athletic Club contacted La Liga to express concerns that Barcelona can't actually afford to sign Nico Williams nor register him as a player, on his wages, due to their financial situation.
Club President Joan Laporta responded to the Basque side, saying:
“Everyone should do what they think they have to. We’re doing what Barca should do when it comes to taking advantage of the opportunities in the market and following what our director of football and our manager tell us. I have nothing more to say about Athletic; let them do what they have to do. I respect what they do, just as I hope I respect what we do.”

Everton to open talks with Branthwaite
Everton will open discussions with Jarrad Branthwaite over a new contract.
The central defender's current deals runs out in 2027 and he has been strongly linked with a move away over the last 12 months, with Manchester United in particular keen on a deal.
Things have gone quiet on that front, though, so it seems likely that Branthwaite will remain with the Toffees for now. (Fabrizio Romano)
