Ugarte IN, Sancho OUT: Five deals Man Utd will do on Deadline Day
Manchester United have had a busy summer, with four new signings arriving at Old Trafford, but there is plenty more business that could be done on Transfer Deadline Day.
Time is running out for the Red Devils to complete Erik ten Hag’s squad, but there is still the possibility of new signings at Old Trafford.
Man Utd, meanwhile, are also seeking to offload several players, setting up the final hours of the transfer window as hectic ones.

Possible signings
Manuel Ugarte – PSG
Man Utd and PSG have finally struck an agreement for Uruguay international midfielder Manuel Ugarte, with FootballTransfers exclusively breaking the news on Tuesday.
It’s been a deal that’s been a long time coming. United have been seeking cover in the heart of the midfield for several weeks, with Ugarte well established as their leading target. The 23-year-old Uruguay international is primed to sign, with a deal now only a matter of time.
Raheem Sterling – Chelsea
Ten Hag has wanted additional cover on the wings throughout the summer and the indifferent form of Marcus Rashford early in the season has only fuelled the need for the Red Devils to find more attacking wide options.
Sterling is a member of Chelsea’s ‘Bomb Squad’ and is being forced out of Stamford Bridge. He could be part of a swap deal involving Jadon Sancho, yet such transfers are notoriously difficult to broker, and with time running out, this one looks unlikely.
Anyone else?
Don’t discount the possibility of a shock deal late in the window.
As mentioned, United are still light in the wide attacking areas, and while they are unlikely to spend particularly big reinforcing this sector, they will be on the lookout for any loan opportunities that may develop.
Possible sales
Jadon Sancho – Chelsea or somewhere else?
Jadon Sancho will surely leave Man Utd this summer. Despite claims from Ten Hag that the England winger has been forgiven for the spectacular falling out between the pair last summer, the former Borussia Dortmund star has been nowhere to be seen when it has come to the matchday squads – something the manager has put down to “survival of the fittest”.
Chelsea are thought to be interested in Sancho, but don’t discount a shock move elsewhere.
The 24-year-old wants a permanent move away, while Man Utd ideally want a loan. Another return to Dortmund has even been suggested.
Scott McTominay – Napoli
Ugarte’s arrival in midfield is set to see at least one player sacrificed, and with no interest in Casemiro, Scott McTominay is the man who will depart Old Trafford.
The Scotland international is destined to move to Napoli for around €30 million. He is already in Italy and poised to complete a deal.
