That is according to AS, who report that new Man Utd manager Ruben Amorim and the club have agreed that Gyokeres will be their next long-term number nine.

United are in the market to sign a top-class striker in 2025 and AS report that they have settled on Gyokeres, who has been prolific under Amorim at Sporting over the last 15 months.

Gyokeres currently has a €100m release clause in his Sporting contract and, although there have been reports that the clause will be officially or unofficially lowered before the summer, AS claim that United will pay the three-figure sum in order to guarantee getting their man.

Gyokeres on fire

Gyokeres is the hottest striking property around right now and has made an incredible start to the new season, already scoring 23 goals in 17 games in all competitions.

This follows on from his brilliant form from last season for Sporting where he scored 43 goals in all competitions for his club.

The likes of Arsenal, Chelsea, PSG, Real Madrid and Barcelona are also very interested in Gyokeres.

Gyokeres is expected to be sold by Sporting at the end of the 2024-25 season in order for the Sweden international to make the next step in his career.

Man Utd are favourites to sign him due to the presence of Amorim, who left Sporting last week in order to officially start his new job as manager at Old Trafford.

Amorim's first match in charge of Man Utd will be this weekend when they take on Ipswich Town.

United are currently languishing in 13th place in the Premier League table after a disastrous start to the season.
