That is according to Fichajes, who report that Amorim has told the Man Utd board to focus their summer transfer plans around ensuring they sign Gyokeres.

Amorim is working hard behind the scenes to entice his former striker from Sporting Lisbon to Old Trafford, and he expects United's money-men to back him.

Fichajes also report that while Gyokeres has a release clause in his contract worth €100 million, Sporting have made it known that they will accept an offer from United of €70m.

This is the amount that Sporting consider to be a fair price for the prolific striker.

United will sign a top-class striker this summer and have been linked to a host of top stars including Benjamin Sesko, Victor Osimhen, Mateo Retegui and also Gyokeres.

Gyokeres is Amorim's favoured choice due to his relationship with the player.

The Sweden star was prolific under Amorim at Sporting over their 15 months together prior to the manager’s move to United in November.
