The summer transfer window was a big one for Manchester United as they managed to reinforce the biggest problem areas in their squad.

With a new structure above manager Erik ten Hag, the Red Devils saw significant changes under INEOS in the summer.

Firstly, Ten Hag survived a two-week end-of-season review from the higher-ups at the club, and he even signed a contract extension at Old Trafford after guiding the club to FA Cup glory in May.

Off the pitch, there is now great hope with Sir Jim Ratcliffe and INEOS overseeing drastic improvements in the market.

They signed Manuel Ugarte, Leny Yoro, Matthijs de Ligt, Joshua Zirkzee and Noussair Mazraoui in the summer, while Sekou Kone was brought in as one for the future.

Gullit mocks Ten Hag

Former Chelsea star, Ruud Gullit has slammed Man Utd boss Erik ten Hag.

Speaking on Dutch TV, the ex-Netherlands international let rip on the Red Devils boss.

"Yeah, but it's a process," Gullit said jokingly as Ten Hag walked off down the tunnel at the final whistle.

"I am not surprised by the football Manchester United showed tonight. Why not? Because we are used to it by now. How many millions did Erik ten Hag invest in his team again?

"I saw Erik ten Hag talking to Garnacho all the time. The only thing a player is thinking during a moment like that is: 'Dude, leave me alone.'"

More on Kross

Kross could have joined club

Real Madrid legend Toni Kross has announced that he was mighty close to joining Man Utd.

The midfielder told how he gave former United boss David Moyes his word he would join back in 2014.

It was only after Louis van Gaal became manager, that Kross pulled out of the move.

Varane agrees to new job

The former Man Utd centre-back was injured shortly after arriving at Como.

It seems that the Serie A side has given him a gig for the futue.

"And so, a new life begins off the pitch," the ex-France international wrote in his goodbye post.

"I will remain with Como. Just without using my boots and shin pads. Something I am looking forward to sharing more about soon."

Ten Hag fails test

Ten Hag takes responsibility

Erik ten Hag admits that some of the blame should fall on him after a disappointing 1-1 draw with FC Twente at Old Trafford.

Man Utd were expected to win the Europa League clash with some ease, however they lacked effort and only came away with a point.

“Today I have some criticism," said the boss.

"It is not only the team, I have to look in the mirror as well. I am part of it”.
