Speculation has intensified in recent days that Salah was edging closer to a summer transfer to Saudi giants Al-Hilal.

Indeed, there have been reports that Liverpool are even ready to allow Salah to join Al Hilal before the end of his contract at Anfield.

According to GiveMeSport on Tuesday, Saudi Pro League side Al-Hilal want to sign Salah this summer on a free transfer.

And unless Liverpool convince the 32-year-old to sign a new contract soon, the Reds are ready to let him join the Saudi side immediately at the end of the European club season.

This would allow Salah to play for Al-Hilal at the Club World, which commences in June, rather than have to wait until his Liverpool contract officially expires on June 30.

Al-Hilal coach Jorge Jesus has now all but confirmed the reports that his club plan to sign Salah.

"I would like to have Salah at Al-Hilal, he has a way of playing that fits the team," Jesus said.

It has been reported that Al-Hilal are ready to pay Salah a contract worth €200 million a year - matching Cristiano Ronaldo's salary at Al Nassr.

This is a salary that Liverpool simply cannot match.

Salah is looking increasingly likely of leaving Liverpool as little headway is made in contract negotiations.

The attacker has on numerous occasions expressed his disappointment at Liverpool dragging their feet in extension talks and seems to be fed up with the matter.

Speaking to Sky Sports last month, the 32-year-old, not for the first time, insisted that this is his final season at the club, as things stand. "It's my last year at the club and I want to do something special for the city," he said when asked about his ambition to win the Premier League.

"It's the last six months. There is no progress [on contract talks]. We are far away from any progress, so we just have to wait and see."

Saudi interest in Salah

The Saudi Pro League has been interested in Salah for a couple of years now.

Salah was the subject of some huge offers from the Saudi Pro League during the summer transfer window of 2023.

a title="Al-Ittihad" href="https://www.footballtransfers.com/en/teams/sa/al-ittihad/transfer-news" target="_blank">Al-Ittihad had a massive offer of €175 million rejected by Liverpool in the closing days of the summer.

He could now join the league on a free transfer this summer.

Salah joined Liverpool from Roma for a bargain €38m in 2017 and has since gone on to become one of the club’s greatest players of all time.

He has scored 237 goals in 383 games for Liverpool, leading the club to the Premier League and Champions League titles. He has won three Premier League Golden Boots and was Premier League Player of the Year in 2017-18.

He has shown no signs of slowing down this season with 26 goals in 34 games in all competitions leading Liverpool to top of the Premier League and Champions League.
