Jeremie Frimpong confirms Trent Alexander-Arnold to Real Madrid
Liverpool's negotiations to sign Jeremie Frimpong from Bayer Leverkusen all but confirms that Trent Alexander-Arnold will join Real Madrid.
Sacha Tovalieri reports that Liverpool have been in talks to sign Frimpong for several weeks, with the Bayer Leverkusen man pinpointed as the replacement of Alexander-Arnold.
These talks have been increasingly regular, suggesting that Liverpool are desperate to bring the Dutchman to Anfield.
Leverkusen are prepared to sell Frimpong for a fee of around €60 million.
Frimpong is keen on the move and sees Liverpool as the next step in his career, having helped Leverkusen to a historic double last season. A transfer is most likely to go through at the end of the season.
These negotiations virtually confirm the worst secret in football of Alexander-Arnold joining Real Madrid next summer.
Alexander-Arnold’s future is very much up for discussion currently as his contract at Liverpool expires in 2025.

Contract talks have not been going well and it is widely reported in Spain that a free transfer to Real Madrid is already agreed.
Real Madrid have reportedly offered Trent Alexander-Arnold a contract worth a staggering €90 million.
The Liverpool right back is said to have been offered a five year contract with a salary of €17-18m per season. That will be worth an incredible €90m over the course of his contract at the Santiago Bernabeu.
Real Madrid have been long-term admirers of Alexander-Arnold and see the right back as the long-term successor to the ageing and injured Dani Carvajal.

Alexander-Arnold at Liverpool
Alexander-Arnold was born in Liverpool and grew up in the club’s youth academy from the age of six.
He made his senior debut for Liverpool at the age of 18 in 2016 and went on to become a key player in Jurgen Klopp’s successful era at the club.
Famed for his brilliant right-foot, vision and long cross-field passes, Alexander Arnold has made over 300 appearances for Liverpool.
He has won seven trophies with Liverpool, including the 2019 Champions League and 2020 Premier League.
He has been capped 33 times by England but under previous manager Gareth Southgate never had the same trust from his country as he has had at his club.
