Trent Alexander-Arnold is very close to immediately joining Real Madrid, according to reports in Spain.

In a somewhat sensational report, Relevo claims that Madrid are "one step away" from completing the signing of Alexander-Arnold this month.

The report says that Liverpool have now opened the door to sell him in January in order to avoid losing him for nothing in six months.

Madrid will sign Alexander-Arnold for a fee of close to €12 million.

This appears rather unlikely, with David Ornstein reporting last week that Liverpool will not sanction the player's sale this month as they challenge to win the Premier League title.

It is widely expected that Alexander-Arnold will join Madrid on a Bosman Transfer at the end of the season when his Liverpool contract expires.

Contract talks with Liverpool have not been going well and it is widely reported elsewhere in Spain that a free transfer to Real Madrid is already agreed.

Real Madrid have reportedly offered Trent Alexander-Arnold a contract worth a staggering €90 million.

The Liverpool right back is said to have been offered a five year contract with a salary of €17-18m per season. That will be worth an incredible €90m over the course of his contract at the Santiago Bernabeu.

Real Madrid have been long-term admirers of Alexander-Arnold and see the right back as the long-term successor to the ageing and injured Dani Carvajal.

Alexander-Arnold at Liverpool

Alexander-Arnold was born in Liverpool and grew up in the club’s youth academy from the age of six.

He made his senior debut for Liverpool at the age of 18 in 2016 and went on to become a key player in Jurgen Klopp’s successful era at the club.

Famed for his brilliant right-foot, vision and long cross-field passes, Alexander Arnold has made over 300 appearances for Liverpool.

He has won seven trophies with Liverpool, including the 2019 Champions League and 2020 Premier League.

He has been capped 33 times by England but under previous manager Gareth Southgate never had the same trust from his country as he has had at his club.
