Argentina wonderkid to snub Liverpool & Man Utd to join Messi at Inter Miami
Liverpool, Manchester United, Real Madrid and several other top European clubs are set to miss out on Argentina wonderkid Federico Redondo.
The 21-year-old has been linked with almost every big club in world football over the past year following his immense form at Argentinos Juniors, but he is set to snub European interest in order to join Inter Miami.
According to The Miami Herald, the David Beckham-owned club are currently in negotiations with Redondo and are expected to offer $8m (€7.4m) for his services.
He is expected to replace fellow Argentine Facundo Farias as one of Inter Miami’s three Under 22 Initiative players after Farias suffered an ACL injury in pre-season, ruling him out for the entirety of 2024.
However, the MLS club must free up their wage budget to afford Redondo’s salary, meaning they may have to offload at least one player before signing the midfielder.
The 21-year-old will be able to learn under the tutelage of Sergio Busquets, one of the world’s best ever defensive midfielders, at Inter Miami, while his countryman Lionel Messi will likely help his development too.
Redondo is widely-considered to be one of South America’s most talented midfielders and he is expected to play for one of Europe’s biggest clubs in the near future.
Which clubs were interested in signing Federico Redondo?
According to TEAMtalk, Liverpool, Man Utd and Real Madrid are all interested in signing Redondo, although they are set to miss out on his signature.
Furthermore, Bild’s Christian Falk has reported that Redondo is now on Bayern Munich’s transfer wishlist as they search for a new midfielder.
As per Falk, Adrien Rabiot, Martin Zubimendi and Joao Palhinha are also under consideration.
Redondo’s contract at Argentinos Juniors runs until the end of 2024, but he looks to be on the verge of joining Inter Miami in a major coup for Gerardo ‘Tata’ Martino’s side.
