Neymar has suggested he would like to be the next former Barcelona player to join Lionel Messi at the David Beckham-backed Inter Miami.

Messi caused shockwaves when he spurned a return to spiritual home Barcelona and a big-money move to Saudi Arabia to join Inter on a free transfer from Paris Saint-Germain last July.

He was duly followed to the Chase Stadium by Sergio Busquets, Jordi Alba and, latterly, Luis Suarez, and they are all now coached by former Barca boss Tata Martino.

Neymar and Messi had been reunited at PSG when the latter joined them on a free transfer from Barcelona in 2021, and the Brazilian - who joined only joined Al-Hilal in a €90 million move last August - is already eyeing another link-up.

"Hopefully we can play together again," he told ESPN Argentina when asked about playing with his old friends in Florida. "Leo's a great person, everyone knows him in football and I think he's very happy and if he's happy, I'm too."

Messi fired Inter to the inaugural League Cup in August, and they have got off to a flying start in the new MLS season, sitting top of the overall table with two wins, one draw, eight goals scored and just one conceded from their first three games.

Neymar hasn't fared quite so well in Saudi Arabia, with injuries restricting him to just five appearances in all competitions, and he has previously suggested he would be happy in the US than the Middle-East.

"I don't know. I have some doubts about that. I don't know if I'll play in Brazil again," he told the Fenomenos podcast last year. "I'd love to play in the U.S., actually. I'd love to play there at least for a season."

Neymar is valued at €54.3m by FootballTransfers' in-house algorithm.
