Messi reunion! Inter Miami owner teases Neymar signing
Neymar could hook up again with Lionel Messi as Inter Miami owner Jorge Mas has indicated that the MLS franchise would love to sign the Brazilian star.
Although David Beckham’s side have been linked with a possible move for Manchester City playmaker Kevin De Bruyne in the UK media, Neymar, who is under contract with Al-Hilal until the summer, has long been rumoured to be a target for the club.
He has already played with Messi at Barcelona and PSG, so this could be a third stint together for the pair.
On top of this, Luis Suarez is also with the Florida outfit. This means there could be an incredible reunion of the fabled ‘MSN’ front three that lit up world football during their spell together at Camp Nou.
Neymar to Inter Miami: Unlimited funds available
Mas is not playing down the possibility of Neymar hooking up with Inter Miami and says the funds are in place to make a deal happen.
Speaking to GiveMeSport, he said: “The key word is if he were to become available. He is an Al-Hilal player now. He's not available to us. I have always said we aspire to bring great players to our team. We have a lot of roster limitations and restrictions, but we have an unlimited budget.
“We are aspirational. If there is ever a chance to bring the calibre of a player like Neymar, we will not hesitate. It doesn't depend only on me. It depends on the player and the league. But yes, we aspire to build a great roster here.”
Neymar: What lies ahead?
Neymar will be a free agent from the end of June 2025 unless he signs a new deal with Al-Hilal, who he joined in the summer of 2023.
The move, however, has proven to be a disaster. Neymar suffered an ACL injury while on international duty with Brazil. It took longer than anticipated to heal, leading to some reports that the Saudis were unhappy with his lifestyle, and as such he has only played seven matches for the club.
Although Neymar was also injury prone during his time with PSG, he retains an outstanding reputation and a huge profile, making him attractive to rich clubs seeking to grow their stature.
Inter Miami find themselves in this position, with the 2025 Club World Cup a major target for the franchise that David Beckham part owns.
Following Mas’ claim that the MLS side have an “unlimited budget”, Neymar heading to Florida makes a lot of sense, particularly as he recently bought a house in Miami.
