Messi wants Real Madrid star at Inter Miami: Beckham says yes to deal

Barcelona legend Lionel Messi is reportedly keen to link up with one of his former Real Madrid rivals this summer as his latest superstar teammate at Inter Miami.
Messi has already lured many of his old Barcelona teammates to Miami, with the likes of Luis Suarez, Jordi Alba and Sergio Busquets all plying their trade for the MLS side as well as being coached by Javier Mascherano.

But Messi could now focus his recruitment on the other side of his La Liga connections, with Fichajes claiming that Luka Modric is seen as a ‘dream’ target if he leaves Real Madrid this summer.
The 39-year-old looks likely to depart Real after 13 years in Madrid and the opportunity for a new challenge in America surrounded by an environment of familiar faces is said to be ‘tempting’ for Modric.
The Real captain has seen his minutes decrease in recent times, having started a career-low 14 La Liga games this season, and his departure is looking increasingly likely when his contract expires this summer.
While Modric’s exit from Real would be an emotional one, Inter Miami are said to be ready to welcome him with ‘open arms’ as the David Beckham-owned side look to add another global superstar to their growing contingent.

Messi impact takes shape as Inter Miami value grows
The presence of a Ballon d’Or winner like Modric would arguably be Inter Miami’s greatest coup since Messi’s signing in 2023.

Having only been founded in 2018, the Florida outfit have built a reputation of signing high-reputation stars which has seen them become the second-most valuable MLS side behind Los Angeles FC.
Upon Messi’s arrival, Inter Miami won their first major trophy with the 2023 Leagues Cup before securing their maiden Supporter’s Shield in 2024.
However, Miami were knocked out in the first round of the playoffs and Messi will be hoping that another star will help carry his side to MLS Cup victory in the upcoming campaign.
