Manchester United have been told they will have to pay €60 million to sign Andre Onana, as Inter open up more and more to a summer sale.

All the major newspapers in Italy on Wednesday confirm that Man Utd want to sign Onana, with the Cameroonian a huge favourite of Erik ten Hag.

The pair worked together at Ajax, with Onana playing a key role as Ten Hag’s side reached the 2019 Chamopions League semi-final - being seconds away from making the final.

Inter would ideally like to keep Onana given his pedigree but realise they have a chance to sell for a big sum and make a profit by replacing him with another excellent goalkeeper.

If United were to bid €60m, Inter would consider selling in order to replace Onana with Empoli goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario. The Italian was one of the best goalkeepers in Serie A last term and is available for around €25-30m. This would represent a huge profit for an Inter side who can only spend with the money they generate this summer.

Onana only arrived at Inter a year ago on a free transfer after he saw out his contract at Ajax.

The 26-year-old has been a revelation at San Siro, soon displacing long-term number one Samir Handanovic from the starting XI.

The ex-Ajax man was one the best goalkeepers in all of Europe this season, perhaps the best of all in the Champions League.

He had more clean sheets than any goalkeeper in the Champions League, with eight shutouts taking Inter all the way to the final where they narrowly lost 1-0 to Man City.

As well as having cat-like reflexes, Onana is a commanding presence as he dominates his area. He is a leader and organiser, a very vocal presence.

He is also brilliant with his feet and reads the game fantastically, acting as a sweeper. This is something Ten Hag particularly wants in his goalkeeper, and what David de Gea is lacking from his game.

Onana has also been linked with Chelsea, but Man Utd are ahead in the race for the goalkeeper.
