‘Our own De Bruyne’ – Chelsea fans gush over Palmer after Brentford display
Chelsea fans have not had much to cheer about this season but the performances of Cole Palmer have been a bright spot, with Blues supporters raving over his first-half display against Brentford.
Palmer, who joined Chelsea for £40 million in the summer from Manchester City, has arguably been the club’s best performer under Mauricio Pochettino this season and continued to impress against the Bees.
Although Chelsea failed to break Brentford down and were goalless heading into the break, Palmer’s creativity left supporters purring over their new star.
REVEALED: Why City sold Palmer
The 21-year-old has two goals and two assists in his last four games and came close to making the opener, using his vision and technique to create multiple chances that Chelsea failed to put away.
While Chelsea’s transfer business has been panned in the Todd Boehly era, Palmer’s signing could prove to be a masterstroke for the Blues going forward with their young squad.
Supporters couldn’t contain their excitement and took to social media to lavish praise on the wonderkid as he grows into his role as Chelsea’s creative spark.
’Once in a generation’ Palmer gets Stamford Bridge rocking
Palmer was the focal point of Chelsea’s attack in the first half and made 24 passes into the final third – just four less than Brentford’s entire team.

Everything goes through Cole Palmer for Chelsea. For a 21 year old who’s hardly had a full senior season of regular football, he looks so comfortable already. Fans could not help but compare Palmer to Kevin De Bruyne, while also suggesting he was better than rival stars such as Martin Odegaard, and some City fans were even expressing regret at having sold their academy graduate.
Every week, I run out of superlatives for Cole Palmer.
The weight of pass of Kevin De Bruyne, the dribbling style of Riyad Mahrez, the strength of Yaya Toure, the abillity to control games like Eden Hazard.

Does anybody think that we will regret letting Cole Palmer leave? 😳 #mcfc pic.twitter.com/EjqnH33Bpk
