Romano delivers 'IMPORTANT update' on Havertz to Real Madrid
Fabrizio Romano has delivered a huge update on Kai Havertz's potential move to Real Madrid.
The Chelsea attacker has been the subject of strong links to Los Blancos in recent weeks as the Blues are open to offloading the man they once paid €80 million for. The German has not had the desired impact at Stamford Bridge, failing to match his scintillating Bayer Leverkusen form and often being shoehorned into a central striker role despite being a number ten by trade.
Real Madrid were ready to take Havertz off of Chelsea's books, with head coach Carlo Ancelotti said to be a big admirer of the 24-year-old. Indeed, many in Real's recruiting department were keen on bringing Havertz to the Spanish capital.

One major stumbling block to any potential move has, however, always been Chelsea's valuation. According to Fabrizio Romano, it is exactly this matter that has now caused the move to collapse.
Havertz to Madrid off
"This is an important update we have on the German player," the Italian told his 1.68 million YouTube subscribers, "we know that Real Madrid consider Havertz one of the players on their [short]list."
"They want him because they consider him a very interesting player in different positions, very versatile player...he is really appreciated by Carlo Ancelotti."

"But there is one thing I wanted to mention, and this is something I got over the weekend: Real Madrid internally and also together with Carlo Ancelotti, they feel that the asking price from Chelsea is more than €60 million - because it's 60 guaranteed plus add-ons - so Chelsea want more than 60, it could be more than 70 including add-ons; this is way too much."
"At the moment, while I'm speaking the Kai Havertz deal for Real Madrid is off because of this. They appreciate the player, but they're not prepared to pay that money."
