Depay drops hint over Barcelona move: I can’t promise I’ll stay at Lyon

Lyon forward Memphis Depay has refused to offer guarantees over his future as reports of Barcelona interest continue to surface.

The 26-year-old was reportedly a prime target for Ronald Koeman over the summer, the pair having previously worked successfully together with the Netherlands.

And, while a move ultimately failed to come to fruition, there has been talk of Barca reigniting their interest in January.

Asked about that possibility, Depay would not rule out a mid-season departure but insisted that he will continue giving his all despite the uncertainty surrounding him.

He told Telefoot: “You ask me about this a lot, but I’m not going to make promises that I’m not sure I can keep.

“I think Lyon has to take advantage of my presence here now, and I have to take advantage of being here. That’s what I try to do every day.

“You can ask those around me: I like to train, and I try to be positive every day.”
