Koeman: No new signings at Barca until new president is elected

Barcelona coach Ronald Koeman states that there will be no new signings made by the club until a new president is elected on January 24.
Former president Josep Maria Bartomeu stood down from his position in late October due to mounting criticism over the way in which he ran the Catalan giants.
The election campaign is now underway at Barcelona, with the election itself taking place on 24 January and a new president picked shortly afterwards.
Lionel Messi became so disenfranchised with life at Camp Nou that he actively sought to leave, but was held back due to contract stipulations.
Koeman, speaking during his pre-game press conference ahead of tomorrow night’s Champions League clash with Hungarian outfit Ferencvaros, said that new signings wouldn’t be on the horizon until a new president is elected.

“This is not the time to talk about signings, first you have to talk inside, you have to know who will be the president. They can influence many things,” said Koeman.
Koeman was then asked about whether the club may dip into the transfer market for reinforcements in the defence department, and commented on the potential return of Jean-Clair Todibo.
“This is not the time to talk about positions or names.” stated Koeman on the return of Todibo. “He is a topic for January.”
Todibo was sent on loan to Portuguese side Benfica in the last transfer window, but hasn’t kicked a ball for the Super Eagles due to injury.
