Mbappe must be signed at all costs, Liverpool legend tells Klopp
Liverpool goalscoring legend Ian Rush has urged the club to try and sign Kylian Mbappe next summer.
And the former Anfield hero insists the Paris Saint-Germain striker would suit the Liverpool playing style more than Erling Haaland of Borussia Dortmund.
Both Mbappe and Haaland are likely to be on the move next summer, with the pair consistently linked with Europe's biggest clubs.
Real Madrid are the favourites to sign World Cup winner Mbappe from PSG after failing during the summer.
Meanwhile, there is an almighty scramble for Haaland, with Madrid, Manchester City and PSG among the leading contenders for the Norway star.
What has been said
However, Rush told The Daily Mail he believes his former club should always be looking to improve and that the signing of Mbappe would do just that.
He said: “Get to January and see where you are but in the summer even if Liverpool do win the league, I am sure they would invest again because they need to keep players on their toes.
"I think if you look age-wise, Mbappe is absolutely flying. He would suit Liverpool. [Erling] Haaland is also scoring for fun.
“But they have to fit into Liverpool’s style of play and Mbappe would certainly do that. He is improving and will get even better.
“You can get an out-and-out goalscorer but if you don’t provide them they don’t score, but Mbappe makes goals as well as scoring them.”
Could Liverpool sign Mbappe?
Liverpool has been linked with Kylian Mbappe for several years now.
But during that time, they have always been up against Real Madrid in their pursuit.
Mbappe, 22, has made no secret that he is a big fan of the Spanish giants and has been since he was a kid.
It seems that he has already made up his mind on his next club and, although PSG is still hopeful he will sign a new deal, it appears both the French giants and Liverpool will have to watch in envy as Mbappe pulls on the famous Real Madrid white next summer.
