Rivaldo urges Raphinha to pursue Liverpool move
Rivaldo reckons newly-capped Brazil star Raphinha would be best served moving to Liverpool, after speculation linked the Leeds star with a switch to Anfield.
The 24-year-old, who arrived at Leeds from Rennes last summer, enjoyed a sparkling debut campaign in England and the player's agent has admitted Liverpool are interested.
Raphinha scored twice in Brazil's 4-1 win over Uruguay in the recent World Cup qualifiers and is represented by former Barcelona, Chelsea and Porto star Deco who insists his client has "really stood out in the Premier League".
According to Brazil legend Rivaldo, the natural way for Raphinha to continue to improve would be to secure a move to Jurgen Klopp's side to ensure he is challenging for major honours and playing at a top club.
He told Betfair, via Leeds Live: "Raphinha performed well on his debut for Brazil, but he was already shining in the Premier League with Leeds United and there are rumours of interest from Liverpool.
"If he were to make the move, he may not be a regular starter, but I’m sure it would be a big step in his career since it would allow him to compete for titles and play in the Champions League which could be crucial for more call ups into the Brazilian national team.
"He has the quality to player for a bigger club. He is playing excellent football and a player always wants more and stronger challenges, so he would benefit from a transfer."
Raphinha ended up going off with an injury in Leeds' draw with Wolves on Saturday after a tackle from Romain Saiss left him unable to put full weight on his foot. The extent of the injury is still being assessed.
Raphinha has three goals in eight Premier League appearances for Leeds so far this season, and the right winger would certainly add even more threat to Klopp's squad should Liverpool choose to swoop.
