Manchester United boss Ralf Rangnick has been told to sell Anthony Martial in the January transfer window.

In fact, in a scathing criticism of the Frenchman, he has been described as "a player who gets you the sack" by former Crystal Palace owner Simon Jordan.

The 26-year-old is out-of-favour at Old Trafford, leading to speculation over his exit from the club.

And Jordan is certain in his belief that said departure should take place as soon as possible for the sake of the German head coach.

Martial signed for Manchester United from AS Monaco for £36 million in 2015, with lofty expectations placed upon the then-youngster's shoulders.

There was even a Ballon d'Or winning clause within his contract, such were the hopes that he would turn out to be one of Europe's finest goalscorers.

However, with 79 goals in 268 appearances, he has proven to be nothing more than a good player.

As such, the signing of top-class players Cristiano Ronaldo, Bruno Fernandes and Jadon Sancho have left him on the substitute's bench more often than not in recent times.

Martial to leave Man Utd?

Jordan left nothing to the imagination in his reflection of Martial's situation at Manchester United.

''Get the cab ready and put Martial in it ready as quick as you can, and then you’ve got an opportunity,'' the former Palace man told talkSPORT. ''Because I think Martial is one of those players who gets you the sack.

''I think he is the archetypal Manchester United player of the last half a decade that, on paper, looks a great player and has all the ability. But when it comes to it, [he’s got a] heart the size of a pea''

The striker's attitude has been called into question on numerous occasions, largely because of his nonchalant persona on the pitch.

This gives the impression of a player comfortable with earning a fortune and unconcerned by the results of the team, whether that be true or not.

It is unclear what Rangnick's views are on Martial's place in the team, but the ex-Leipzig coach did have this to say on the matter: "If I look at the number of players we have it’s still a big squad.

"We also need to make sure that players want to stay here.

"If they are still not getting enough game time here it might make sense to speak individually with the players and see if a loan might make sense.”
