Although the club have made no official announcement, the 47-year-old coach posted a picture of the club’s crest with the caption “next chapter” on his Instagram account.

Olhanense currently sit fourth in the Campeonato de Portugal Serie H with 13 points from seven league games.

  • Despite a distinguished career that saw Davids win multiple domestic titles in Holland and Italy, as well as a Champions League trophy and a fourth-place finish at the 1998 World Cup, the former midfielder has struggled to establish himself as a coach.

Prior to being appointed as head coach at Olhanense, Davids’ only coaching experience comes from a brief spell in charge of League Two side Barnet in a player-manager role in 2012.

Unfortunately, Davids’ time in charge of Barnet lasted just two years and resulted in the club getting relegated from the Football League before resigning from his post in January 2014.

Although his time as manager didn’t go down as a huge success, Barnet fans did warm to Davids’ after he sent the club’s team coach back to Accrington Stanley to pick up 36 supporters whose own coach have broken down after the away fixture.
