Real Madrid are reportedly preparing a summer bid for Feyenoord defender Marcos Senesi.

According to De Telegraaf, Los Blancos have been impressed by the centre-backs performances this season and view him as a potential replacement, or indeed a partner, for Sergio Ramos, whose contract expires at the end of the current campaign.

Feyenoord value Senesi at around €35m, but as he only joined the club in 2019, they are eager to give him a new, extended contract until 2025 which would include a buyout clause of €50m in order to gain the club more money or potentially put off any summer suitors.

Real Madrid believe that Senesi will ultimately become a first-choice centre-back for Argentina.

Who is Real Madrid target Marcos Senesi?

The 23-year-old spent his youth and the start of his senior career with San Lorenzo before making the move to Europe with Feyenoord in September of 2019.

He has made 30 appearances in the Eredivisie since making the move, though he has already started more games (17) in the 2020/21 campaign than he did in the entire 2019/20 season (15) which shows how quickly he has developed into a key player for the Dutch outfit.

As part of the deal to bring him to Feyenoord, San Lorenzo agreed a 10% sell-on clause which means they will be due €5m if Senesi goes for the proposed buyout of €50m.

Within the 2020/21 Eredivisie, he has won the majority of his tackles per 90 (2.0/2.7), the majority of his duels per 90 (6.5/10), and the majority of his aerial duels per 90 (2.1/3,5).

He averages 2.1 interceptions, 4.1 clearances, and 7.8 ball recoveries per game also.

As well as Real Madrid, Inter and Milan are both rumoured to be interested in a summer transfer.

Real Madrid will sign a new centre-back in the summer whether Ramos is still at the Santiago Bernabeu or not, and in addition to Senesi they have been linked strongly with Villarreal’s Pau Lopez as well as Bayern’s David Alaba.

A deal for Alaba was thought to have been concluded this week, but the player’s father and agent disputed the claims a few days after they emerged.
