West Ham United seem desperate to sign Sevilla striker Youssef En-Nesyri and when we take a look at the player’s stats for this season we can understand why.

According to Goal, the Moroccan striker is the subject of strong interest from the Hammers who will surely be looking to bring in another striker this month or at the end of the season.

West Ham have a notable hole up front after selling misfiring striker Sebastien Haller to Ajax this month for a reported fee of around £21 million.

Apparently, David Moyes and his background staff would like to use that money to help fund a deal for a new No.9 at the London Stadium.

And when we take a look at En-Nesyri’s stats for this season in La Liga it’s easy to see why the Hammers boss may be getting quite excited about bringing the forward to England.

How good is En-Nesyri this season?

Although En-Nesyri has only been at Sevilla for 12 months, after signing for the club for £18 million from now-relegated Leganes in January 2020, the 23-year-old striker has taken to the Andalusia club like a duck to water.

So far this season the Moroccan striker has scored nine goals in 18 La Liga appearances, along with four in six Champions League appearances for the Spanish club. To little surprise, En-Nesyri is also the club’s top goalscorer this season and has quickly become an indispensable member of Julen Lopetegui’s team.

However, it isn’t until we compare the young striker to other goal scorers around Europe that we really see just how well En-Nesyri really is doing at Sevilla this season.

As the graph above shows, the Sevilla striker is currently sitting on average of 0.83 non-penalty goals every 90 minutes for the Spanish club. Which currently puts him behind just four goal scorers across the whole of Europe.

Not only is the West Ham transfer target currently outperforming established continental stars like Romelu Lukaku, Kylian Mbappe and Son Heung-Min, but En-Nesyri is also on a par with Juventus talisman Cristiano Ronaldo

Whether West Ham will be able to entice the Moroccan forward away from Sevilla remains to be seen, but if they can then it seems as though Moyes may be getting his hands on one of the best strikers in Europe this season.
