Promes to rejoin Spartak Moscow from Ajax
Quincy Promes is set to leave Ajax in order to rejoin Spartak Moscow for a fee of €8.5 million, rising to €11 million with add-ons.
Promes was under contract in Amsterdam until June 2024 but the winger has opted for a move back to Russia.
The two clubs had been locked in talks over a fee in recent weeks and, with that hurdle now cleared, the player has travelled today to undergo a medical and sign a three-and-a-half-year deal.
Promes will be hoping for a spell at the club as successful as his last where he scored 66 goals in 135 appearances. This earned the Dutchman a move to Spanish side Sevilla before joining Ajax a year later in 2019.
Promes was no stranger to the Johan Cruyff Arena as he joined the club at the age of 10 before leaving six years later to play for fellow Dutch teams HFC Harlem, Go Ahead Eagles and FC Twente.
Promes is a regular at international level, winning 47 caps for Holland, and remains in contention to make the Euro 2021 squad later this year.
Ajax are currently six points clear of PSV in their attempt to win a 27th Eredivisie title.
