Bruno Fernandes “won’t rest” until he becomes a winner at Man United
Bruno Fernandes has pledged “many years” to Manchester United, one year on from his deadline day move from Sporting Lisbon.
The 26-year-old has already scored 19 goals and laid 14 assists in his 12 months at the club, guiding Manchester United to the top four last season and second on the table in this campaign.
Fernandes took to Instagram after United’s 0-0 draw with Arsenal to express that while it wasn’t the result he wanted to celebrate is one-year anniversary, he was hungrier than ever to bring success to the club.
“It’s an absolute honour to play football with the Man Utd badge on my chest,” he said.
“The history of this club was built over wins, many wins. I came here to help on continuing that legacy, and I won’t rest until I do it.”
Bruno Fernandes at United so far
United reached the semi-finals in both the FA Cup and the Europa League last season but failed to get over the line, meaning United are without a trophy since winning the latter competition in 2017.
The Red Devils have failed to add to their 20 league titles since the 2012/13 season, Sir Alex Ferguson’s last campaign in charge, and are at risk of being caught by rivals Liverpool in the overall count.
Fernandes won three trophies at Sporting, the Portuguese Cup once and the League Cup twice, and was also part of the Portugal squad that won the inaugural Nations League crown in 2019.
His pledge to United will do wonders for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer as he looks to build a team capable of winning trophies around his star man, with United remaining in the FA Cup and set to take part in the knockout stages of the Europa League this season.
