Raul: I want Real Madrid job

Real Madrid Castilla coach and Blancos legend Raul has added to the speculation that he will succeed Zinedine Zidane as boss of the senior side.
It is widely reported that Zidane will leave Madrid at the end of the season, with it understood that the Frenchman has already informed his players that he will step down.
There have been a number of coaches linked with succeeding Zidane, but the three main names appear to be former Juventus manager Max Allegri, Germany coach Jogi Low and Real Madrid playing legend Raul Gonzalez.

Raul has been coach of the Real Madrid Castilla side since 2019 and, while he has stopped short of saying he wants to be promoted this summer, he has admitted that Madrid is where he wants to be.
“This is my home and this is where I want to be,” Raul said.
“This is not the time to talk about anyone’s future. We’ve learned a lot this year. I’m an employee of the club.

“Since I decided to become a coach three or four years ago it’s best to do it at home, at my club, gaining experience and coaching in the best way.
“I’m a club man, I’m happy at home and I’m excited to continue.”
Raul’s Castilla side were eliminated from the Segunda Division B playoffs on Sunday after a 0-0 draw with Ibiza.
They needed to beat Ibiza after finishing below them in the league phase of the campaign, so a draw was not enough to progress.
“Although it may not seem like it, it’s a day to be happy for what the team has done,” Raul said post-match following the exit.
“We’ll learn to value it soon even though the boys are crying right now.”
Raul has won 27, drawn 18 and lost 14 of his games since taking over as coach of Real Madrid Castilla.
