Koeman’s future at Barcelona will be decided ‘in a week or 10 days’ says president Laporta
Barcelona president Joan Laporta has revealed that the future of current head coach Ronald Koeman is up in the air, and that a decision will be made in the coming days.
Koeman only took over at Camp Nou last summer, but after finishing third in La Liga and crashing out of the Champions League at the round of 16 stage, his job is on the line.

According to reports, the relationship between Koeman and Laporta has been dented recently, with the Dutchman’s health, after suffering from a heart attack last year, and how it’s been handled, a particular topic of concern.
What has Laporta said about Koeman’s future?
It was a mixed season for the Blaugrana. On one hand, a third place finish and an early Champions League exit is below par for a club of their size, but on the other, Koeman managed to promote the likes of Oscar Mingueza, Ronald Araujo and Ilaix Moriba into the squad, whilst still competing with the best in Spain.
Laporta recognises the work Koeman has done, but talks are still ongoing.
“We said that we were opening a period of reflection about Koeman, we have to evaluate what went well and not so well last season,” he said.
“The wish is to respect the contract, bringing together criteria which we need to talk about still.
“We will continue with the period of reflection with Koeman then in a week or 10 days we will decide.
“We are going to see how the conversations with Koeman develop. They are going very well, but we need a little more time.”
With Sergio Aguero and Eric Garcia confirmed as Barcelona players, and the likes of Georginio Wijnaludm and Memphis Depay heavily linked with a move, it appears that Koeman is being backed, though the decision on whether to keep the Dutchman will ultimately come down to the president.
