Man Utd target Harry Kane has ‘one big negative’ says ex-legend
Former Manchester United captain Roy Keane has implored his old club to sign Harry Kane but admitted there is one major problem with the Englishman.
Kane enjoyed arguably the best season of his career, leading the Premier League in both goals and assists, with 23 and 14 respectively.
The 27-year-old is said to be frustrated by Tottenham’s lack of success and is seeking a move, but Keane suggested perhaps he could do more to try to drive that success.
Man Utd target Harry Kane's blistering Tottenham season
“I don’t think he’s a good leader. I never see him digging anyone out at Spurs,” he said to SkyBet.
“I know people might go, ‘well that’s not his personality’ or, ‘he might do it in the dressing room’. I don’t think he does and that’s a big problem.
“Okay, you can lead with your brilliant play. But I think sometimes I want to see another side to Kane, I’d love to see him get hold of somebody.”
It wouldn’t be unlike Keane to demand more tenacity, aggression or leadership from a player, but the Irishman did admit his appreciation for his talent.
Despite what he believes to be Kane’s shortcoming, Keane called on United to sign the England captain, no matter the price.
“I think Kane is an amazing player, every club should be trying to sign him, Manchester United have got to sign him,” he said.
“I don’t care if it’s £120 million… sign him!”
United extended Edinson Cavani’s contract for one more season and are still chasing Jadon Sancho in a mega-money deal from Borussia Dortmund.
Whether or not they have funds or squad room left over for Kane remains to be seen, but Ole Gunnar Solskjaer would do well to register his interest in bringing Kane to Old Trafford.
