Gareth Bale’s future is still up in the air but the number of potential destinations for the Wales winger can be whittled down to just six.

Bale spent the 2020/21 season on loan at Tottenham from Real Madrid - and was then part of his national team’s challenge at Euro 2020.

Who will sign Gareth Bale?

Despite a relatively disappointing season with SPURS – he scored 16 goals in 34 games but generally failed to figure prominently under the now-sacked Jose Mourinho – there is still a chance he could return to the club.

Seeing out the final year of his REAL MADRID contract in the Spanish capital appears unlikely, despite the return of Bale’s former coach Carlo Ancelotti. But it cannot be ruled out entirely for financial reasons.

Bale is sitting on a mammoth contract worth a reported €700,000-per-week - a figure that no one in world football can justifiably pay during the pandemic. Marca reported in March that he has no intention of reducing his salary in line with his club-mates.

WHAT IS GARETH BALE'S TRANSFER VALUE?

As such, Bale’s best chance of departing Real Madrid will either come by severing the deal – which he is unlikely to do – or by Los Blancos cutting their losses and absorbing some of the cost while also getting him off their books.

The current favourites to sign Bale for next season under such an arrangement are CARDIFF CITY.

Bale was born in Cardiff and has a special connection to his hometown club.

However, it remains to be seen if Bale would be content with playing in the English Championship under manager Mick McCarthy.

A fourth option is the CHINESE SUPER LEAGUE, while a move to MAJOR LEAGUE SOCCER is another possibility.

David Beckham’s INTER MIAMI side are the favourites to sign Bale should he decide to move to the United States.

The final possible destination for Bale is RETIREMENT from football altogether. This appears unlikely given he would stand to lose a whole year’s wages from Real Madrid were he to hang up his boots now.
