In the summer of 2021, Ryan completed a move to Real Sociedad for an undisclosed fee after falling out of favour at Brighton.

In the last six months of the 2020/21 campaign, he went on loan to Arsenal where he would make three appearances.

Ryan is valued at €11.8m.

The second highest value Australian is defender Milos Degenek, who currently plies his trade with Al-Hilal, valued at €3.6m.

In third place is Aaron Mooy, valued at €3.6m. The former Manchester City man is with Shanghai Port FC in the Chinese Super League and was strongly linked with Celtic in the summer transfer window.

He previously played for Huddersfield and Brighton in the Premier League.

FC Midtjylland winger Awer Mabil is in fourth at €2.8m.

In fifth, we have Ajdin Hrustic. He is valued at €2.5m and was previously at Groningen for several years before making the move to Eintracht Frankfurt.

The most expensive Australian who actually plays in Australia is Melbourne City striker Jamie Maclaren, valued at €2.4m. He has scored 122 goals in 202 games and is recognised as one of the best players in the A-League.

Back to Europe, now, and we have Celtic's Tom Rogic (€2.1m) as the seventh high value Australian. The attacking midfielder's time in Glasgow appeared to be winding down, but after the appointment of compatriot Ange Postecoglou he has enjoyed an excellent start to the new season with the Hoops.

Another Melbourne City players comes in eighth in the form of Mathew Leckie, valued at €1.8M.

At ninth is Australia Jake Barker-Daish (€1.5m), while Sam Gallaway (€1.5m) rounds out the top 10.
