Achraf Hakimi is the most expensive defender of the 2021 summer window so far following his blockbuster move from Inter Milan to Paris Saint-Germain.

PSG beat Chelsea to a €60million deal for the wing-back, who has signed a five-year contract running until 2026.

The Moroccan remains the second-most expensive player across all positions, behind Manchester United's Jadon Sancho.

But, the next defender on the list is Ben White, who cost Arsenal €58.5million from fellow Premier League club Brighton.

The 23-year-old has played in each of England's top four divisions in recent years, and has earned a move to the Gunners after just one season in the top flight.

The third-most expensive defender of the window is Bayern Munich's Dayot Upamecano.

The Frenchman left RB Leipzig for Bayern for €42.5million, where he will once again work with head coach Julian Nagelsmann.

Next up, in a €40million deal, is Liverpool's signing of highly-rated Ibrahima Konate.

That means Leipzig have lost two of their key defenders in the same window.

Chelsea academy graduate Fikayo Tomori has made his loan move to Milan a permanent one this summer, in a €29million deal.

Tomori helped The Blues to a fourth place finish in the 2019/20 Premier League season, but became surplus to requirements last campaign.

In sixth place is Marc Guehi, another former Chelsea player, who cost Crystal Palace €23million.

Guehi excelled on loan at Swansea in the Sky Bet Championship last season.

Odilon Kossounou is the seventh-most expensive defender of the window, joining Bayer Leverkusen from Club Brugge in a €23million deal.

He is a product of the famous ASEC Mimosas setup in Ivory Coast, where Yaya and Kolo Toure began their careers.

In eighth, Josko Gvardiol left Dinamo Zagreb for RB Leipzig as a replacement for Upamecano.

Also the youngest player on the list, at 19, he cost the German outfit €19million.

The ninth-most expensive defender of the window is Joachim Anderson, another to join Patrick Vieira's Crystal Palace.

The Danish centre-back cost the Eagles €17.5million from Lyon.

And, finally, in tenth is Loic Bade, who left Lens for Stade Rennais, also in Ligue 1, for €17million.
