Luke Shaw: Ronaldo has always been in Messi’s shadow
Old social media posts from Luke Shaw have emerged in which the Englishman says that his current Man Utd teammate has “always been in Lionel Messi’s shadow”.
Shaw posted the messages on Twitter back in 2013 when he was just 17 years old during an exchange with former Southampton teammate Jamal Branker.
What did Luke Shaw say about Ronaldo in 2013?
Shaw tweeted: "What can he do that Ronaldo can't? [Messi] scored 91 goals in a year. Has Ronaldo done that?
“[Ronaldo] has always been in Messi’s shadow.”
In another exchange with Branker a few months later, Shaw tweeted: “Look at you begging on him because he [Ronaldo] had one good game. Messi does it all the time. #TeamMessi.”
Ronaldo will never like Luke Shaw again 😭😭

These tweets have since been deleted but have resurfaced on social media this week.
This will come as something of an embarrassment to the left back, who has been a teammate of Ronaldo’s since last summer.
Ronaldo returned to Man Utd last summer after 12 years away in a much-publicised transfer from Juventus.
The Portuguese superstar was aiming to bring the glory days back to Old Trafford and challenge for major trophies.
However, despite impressing individually with 14 goals already, the team is enduring a difficult season and are merely fighting it out for Champions League qualification.
This has led to widespread reports that Ronaldo already is looking for an escape out of the club.
Cristiano publicly backed Man Utd manager Ralf Rangnick a fortnight ago but the feeling among many experts is that he will leave the club in the summer if they don’t qualify for next season’s Champions League.
As for Shaw, he has been at Man Utd since 2014 when he joined from Southampton. He has since played over 200 games for United.
