Van de Beek will move to Goodison Park on a dry loan, with Everton paying a small loan fee and the Dutchman’s salary for the rest of the campaign.

The 24-year-old travelled to Merseyside on Monday to complete medical tests and sign his contract.

The move was given the seal of approval by Everton's incoming manager Frank Lampard.

Van de Beek rejected a move to Crystal Palace in order to move to Everton, who hope that the attacking midfielder will boost their chances of avoiding relegation.

Everton are currently in 16th position in the Premier League, just four points above Newcastle in the final relegation spot.

Van de Beek himself is hoping that a temporary switch to the Toffees will kick-start his career.

Van de Beek's Man Utd career

Van de Beek was a big-money signing in the summer of 2020 as Man United splashed out up to €45 million to buy him from Ajax.

However, the midfielder has proved to be a massive flop – scoring just two goals and making two assists in all competitions over the last 18 months.

He has made just four Premier League starts – none of them this season – and been on the pitch for only 579 minutes in total.

Despite the sacking of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, new interim Man Utd manager Ralf Rangnick has offered Van de Beek very few opportunities too.

At Ajax, Van de Beek emerged as one of the most promising young players in Europe as he played a pivotal role in the club reaching the semi-finals of the 2018-19 Champions League.

While at Ajax, he scored 41 goals in 175 appearances. Still only 24, he still has time on his side to get his career back on track.
