Dani Alves: Haaland is NOT worth the money
Dani Alves has remarked that he wants Barcelona to sign Kylian Mbappe this summer but doesn’t believe that big money should be spent on Erling Haaland.
Barcelona are in the market for a top-class striker this summer and have been heavily linked with both Mbappe and Haaland.
Mbappe’s contract expires at PSG at the end of the season but he is widely expected to join Real Madrid on a Bosman Transfer.
Haaland, meanwhile, will leave Borussia Dortmund when his €75 million release clause is activated. However, together with his €40m agent commission and a contract worth €40m a year, he will remain a very expensive signing.
What did Dani Alves say?
"I wouldn't go all out for Haaland. Honestly, I wouldn't spend a lot of money on him," Dani Alves told Sport and Mundo Deportivo.
"On Mbappe yes, but not on Haaland. I'm playing sporting director, eh, but I'd go for Mbappe first, I think he's more complete in every aspect.
"If you're going to make a huge investment, you have to make it for the best. If it was up to me, I'd go for Mbappe. He's the best there is, and for Barcelona's style, at the moment, in football, there is no-one better than him."
Dani Alves also responded to a question on which right backs he liked the most in the world right now.
"I like Liverpool's [Trent] Alexander-Arnold a lot, I also like [Achraf] Hakimi a lot, I like what he does," he said.
The Brazilian, who is set to turn 39 next month, is expected to start for Barcelona against Levante on Sunday evening.
Barcelona are one of the most in-form teams in Europe in 2022 and are favourites to win the Europa League.
