Arsenal have made the signing of a striker their number one priority for the summer transfer window.

Gabriel Jesus and Roma hitman Tammy Abraham are the two names at the top of their striker shortlist, with the Man City man their primary target.

Jesus has been told by City boss Pep Guardiola that he is not part of his plans next season ahead of the arrivals of Julian Alvarez and Erling Haaland.

With Jesus entering the final year of his contract, City are looking to cash in and have invited offers for the Brazil international, alerting many clubs, including Arsenal.

It has been widely reported that Arsenal have already agreed personal terms with Gabriel Jesus, increasing his current salary at City of €3.5m by €2.5m to €6m a year.

Now, City have slapped a price tag of €50-60m on the 25-year-old.

This is a somewhat steep price for a player who is out of contract in a year, but Arsenal are confident they can negotiate the price down.

Jesus signed for Manchester City in January 2017 for €33m plus bonuses from Palmeiras.

He has since scored 94 goals in 234 games, helping the club to nine trophies during his time – including three league titles.

However, he has never been fully trusted by Guardiola as the club’s number one striker option.

Instead, Pep has repeatedly used a false 9 instead of playing Jesus.

Guardiola tried to sign Harry Kane from Tottenham last summer to replace Jesus and has now completed the signing of Haaland at the end of this season.
