Manchester United are among the sides reportedly taking an interest in Juventus midfielder Adrien Rabiot, but a move for the Frenchman would just be a repeat of the problems they had with Paul Pogba

Rabiot is available for transfer at Juventus, with Pogba ironically set to replace him in Turin, and United, Chelsea and Newcastle are thought to be considering a move for the 27-year-old.

However, the Frenchman's career has been plagued with concerns over his attitude and work ethic, with Rabiot's mother and former advisor also a source of controversy at times.

With just one year remaining on his contract, Juventus are willing to listen to offers of around €15 million and, while the deal would be tempting for a talented midfielder in his prime, United would do well to stay away.

The English side have just let go of Pogba after six years of struggling with his inconsistent form and external distractions and a move for Rabiot would undoubtedly cause a bout of deja vu at Old Trafford.

Inconsistent, frustrating, difficult? We've been here before...

Rabiot came through the ranks at Paris Saint-Germain and was one of their brightest prospects before falling out with the club due to his off-the-pitch behaviour.

He eventually left the club on a free transfer to join Juventus and, while he has largely stayed out of trouble during his time in Italy, he has yet to showcase the best of his ability.

The story is similar to that of Pogba, whose second spell with United was surrounded by questionable form, workrate and attitude.

While it would be harsh to completely blame Pogba for his failure at United, ultimately the club endured more problems with their star midfielder than success.

Having taken the initiative to move into a fresh era under new boss Erik ten Hag, replacing Pogba with Rabiot would be a step backwards.

Furthermore, Pogba, despite all his shortcomings, is still an elite midfielder on his day, hence why Juventus are choosing to replace Rabiot with him.

Rabiot, meanwhile, although also talented, has never truly lived up to his potential and would likely be more of a 'flash in the pan' than someone United could consistently rely on.

The Red Devils have been crying out for a world-class defensive midfielder for years but trying to fix a problem like Rabiot is not the solution to their woes.
