Hakim Ziyech to AC Milan? It's time Chelsea forward left the Premier League
Hakim Ziyech's time at Chelsea could be coming to an end, with reports of interest from AC Milan.
The Serie A champions appears the most likely to sign Ziyech, though Roma, Sevilla, Lyon and Marseille are also interested, according to 90min.
The 29-year-old has shown his mercurial technical ability at times, with outstanding individual displays at Chelsea, but he's shown inconsistencies that were previously hidden in the Eredivisie.
One of the most gifted players at the west London club, Ziyech's ability hasn't been seen regularly enough at Stamford Bridge.
Part of a forward line bemoaned for its lack of cutting edge by critics, the Moroccan has provided glimpses of promise, but never enough to sustain his place in the starting XI.
Indeed, from a goal contribution every 85 minutes in his final Eredivise campaign at Ajax, Ziyech managed one every 188 minutes in the 2021-22 Premier League season at Chelsea. The player hasn't changed, but his fortunes have.
Could Chelsea sell Ziyech?
With the likes of Christian Pulisic, Timo Werner and Mason Mount also playing in the same role Ziyech likes to operate in, it wouldn't come as a surprise if the former Ajax man is sold in this transfer window.
With just 14 Premier League starts this season, Ziyech is far from a regular, and the move from Ajax to Chelsea isn't one that has worked out.
Hakim Ziyech Update :
Chelsea are pushing for a loan with a obligation to buy, AC Milan are more keen on loan + Option, it’s described as not an easy deal at the moment. @DiMarzio @_GIFN— Pys (@CFCPys) June 25, 2022
And, rather surprisingly, given his form at Stamford Bridge, there does appear to be a number of suitors for the winger.
However, the one club that he should wish to sign for is AC Milan.
He would link up wither ex-Chelsea defender Fikayo Tomori, who swapped Stamford Bridge for San Siro in order to revitalise his career. And, that is precisely what Ziyech needs.
It's a transfer that could well never happen, but it's a move that could suit all parties involved.
