Official: Newcastle complete €75m Alexander Isak transfer
Newcastle have confirmed they have signed Alexander Isak from Real Sociedad in a deal worth €75 million.
It has been widely reported that the Magpies will pay an upfront fee of €70m, with €5m following in bonuses. This has smashed Newcastle's transfer record, which was set when Joelinton arrived from Hoffenheim for €44m in 2019.
The St James' Park outfit have confirmed that the Sweden international has signed a "long-term" contract with the club.
A player of tremendous potential
Isak started his career in Sweden with AIK, where he scored 10 goals in 224 league matches before moving on to Borussia Dortmund. He had limited chances with the Bundesliga side but made his big breakthrough in the 2018/19 season with Williem II when on loan.
He subsequently earned a move to Real Sociedad, where he netted nine goals in 37 La Liga games in his first season before following that up with 17 in 34. Last term proved more complicated, but in the eyes of many top clubs, Isak had already proven his worth.

'Delighted' with Newcastle transfer
In a statement published on the club's official website, he said: I'm delighted to have it done. It was a big, big decision for me but it is a decision I am really happy with.
"It is a great, historical club that I think anyone would like to play for, with amazing fans. They were a big part of why I came here - and also the club's project, which is one that I really believe in.
"You always want to go into a team and know how they play. I think Newcastle play very attractive football and I want to be a part of that."
Howe on Isak
Newcastle manager Eddie Howe is delighted to have landed a fourth major signing of the summer, following Matt Targett, Nick Pope and Sven Botman as done deals.
He said: "I'm very excited that Alexander has chosen to join us. He is an outstanding talent who is capable of making a big contribution to the team.
"He is technically very good, with a mix of attributes that will complement us, but he is also at a great age to grow with this club.
"I want to thank the club's owners and transfer committee for bringing Alexander to Newcastle. We are all delighted to have him on board."
Isak will wear the No.18 shirt for Newcastle.
